HowTo : Modify Registry in PocketPC
This post is intended to provide some useful information about registry editing in PocketPC.
Important: Changing registry settings could cause your PocketPC to malfunction and may require hard reset (that is reformat your entire PocketPC to default factory settings) and lost all your data. Please backup all your data and registry settings before attempting to change the settings. Please use this guide at your own discretion. The author for this guide and the developer for the software shall not be held responsible for any malfunction of your PocketPC device.
Guide to change registry settings:
Tool
1) Firstly, you need a registry editor for PocketPC. There are many editors out there but in this post, I will use BytesWired Registry Editor that we have developed ourselves.
2) Download and install BytesWired Registry Editor here.

Operation
Key Menu

To bring the menu on top, tap and hold the registry key located on the top half of BytesWired Registry Editor main screen.
Value Menu

To bring the menu on top, tap and hold the value name located on the bottom half of BytesWired Registry Editor main screen.
Adding New Key

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) To add new key in registry, click on Edit menu and Add Key
3) By default the Key name is set to NewKey. You can change the key name to whatever name you want.
Remove Key

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) Browse the registry editor and select the registry key you want to remove.
3) Tap and hold on the key.
4) Select Delete Key option.
5) A message box will prompt to confirm key deletion. Click Yes to confirm deletion or No to abort.
Remove Key

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) Browse the registry editor and select the registry key you want to remove.
3) Tap and hold on the key.
4) Select Delete option.
5) A message box will prompt to confirm key deletion. Click Yes to confirm deletion or No to abort.
Add/Modify DWord

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) To add new DWord value, click on Edit and select New DWord Value.
3) Enter the value name on the Name field name and enter the value data.
4) You can enter DWord value by binary, decimal or hex value.
5) To save changes, click on Save.
6) To return to main screen, click on Cancel.
Add/Modify String

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) To add new String value, click on Edit and select New String Value.
3) Enter the value name on the Name field name and enter the value data.
4) To save changes, click on Save.
5) To return to main screen, click on Cancel.
Add/Modify Binary

1) Run BytesWired Registry Editor.
2) To add new Binary value, click on Edit and select New Binary Value.
3) Enter the value name on the Name field name and enter the value data.
4) To save changes, click on Save.
5) To return to main screen, click on Cancel.
Additional Notes
Some settings require user to soft reset PocketPC device before the changes is effective.
